Simplifying 2020 Technology

Technology in the telecommunication industry is constantly changing. New business technology comes out every day, which affects current businesses as well as young people looking to start their own company. A.I is taking over the telecom industry so it is important to make sure you know what communication technology is essential in order to start a successful and profitable business.

According to a study done by LendingTree, millennials, who comprise the largest generation in the U.S., are starting businesses in the following booming cities: New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Hartford CT, Columbus OH, Oklahoma City, Minneapolis, Providence, R.I., and Boston. Although these are booming locations, what percentage of millennials are actually starting their own business? The US Small Business Administration found that fewer than 4% of 30-year-olds were self-employed full-time (owning a business). This means the number of self-employed Americans under the age of 30 has dropped by 65% since 1980. What could be the reason as to why millennials aren’t starting businesses even though there are thriving cities needing them?

One answer, clearly, is money. 42% of millennials reported a lack of money as a reason why they don’t start a business. But, there is another, more crucial reason why millennials aren’t starting businesses. America’s Voice on Small Business states that a lack of small business knowledge and education is the #1 reason preventing them from starting their own business. Ah, that’s it. Starting a business is not an easy task. There are hundreds of factors that need to be considered and thought out. Well, let’s take business communication technology off that long list of unknown factors needed to start a business. Let’s make it known.

What business communication software do I need?

Communication software solutions vary depending on what type of business you have and how big it is. Even so, we can go over the latest software on the market that currently helps millions of businesses thrive.

The Essentials: latest technology, what it is, and how it works.

Cloud PBX: A cloud PBX is a business phone system that is hosted entirely on servers in off-site data centers and powered over the internet. The cloud is simple. It just means software that runs on the internet. If you have internet access, you can have a business phone system. PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange, in simpler terms, the PBX is the equipment itself that routes incoming calls and enables you to transfer calls to other extensions etc.. Using a Cloud PBX system means you can plug in your office phones, connect them to the internet, and they're ready for use. Millions of companies have switched over to a cloud solution, as it is reliable and convenient. Most Cloud PBX softwares also come with a user interface application so businesses can control and adjust the phone features themselves on their computers. See, easy! We have a cloud PBX solution, ours is called Cirrus by Blink Voice.

SIP Voice Lines: SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol and works with over-the-internet phone systems (cloud PBX). SIP calling connects calls to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) via the internet. The PSTN is the network that routes calls to their destinations, so with SIP voice lines, there is no need for a physical connection to a phone company. Using SIP Voice Lines is convenient and much cheaper than relying on a phone company to route your calls to the PSTN.

Interactive Voice Response: Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is an automated telephony system that can interact with callers, gather required information, and route calls to a particular recipient. IVR is modern and sophisticated, allowing businesses to gather the input and responses of customers through spoken words using voice recognition software (a physical person doesn’t need to answer the phone unless absolutely necessary). The conversations are either pre-recorded or user-generated audio which assist, direct, or route calls automatically without a live operator. IVR’s save up a lot of time for employees which allow them to focus that time on other, more important tasks. Plus, companies will also have better customer service since a customer will feel that he or she is being personally attended to, with the correct answers to all of their questions.

VoIP Features: VoIP stands for Voice-over Internet Protocol and it is a type of communication technology that allows you to make phone/video calls anytime over Internet Protocol networks (I.e the internet). There are certain VoIP features that usually come standard with a cloud solution. These features come standard because they are all practically essential to have in 2020 to communicate properly. These features are: Voicemail, Music on Hold, Visual Voicemail, Personalized Directory, Basic Auto Attendant, Park System, Paging, Call Forwarding, 3-way Conference Calling, Do Not Disturb, Call History, Caller ID, Basic Hunt Groups, and Call Transfer. Starting off a business communication solution with these essentials will assist in creating a successful new business. Most telecom company’s offer these essentials, but not all for the most competitive price and latest software configuration. Make sure to always speak to an IT specialist before switching or buying a new phone system to make sure it is the perfect solution for your business.
